Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to our weekly blog, we aim to send out an update of events, new developments and activities throughout each month; this will replace our existing emailed weekly newsletter.
Sadly this week we say goodbye to Michael, Maks and Jakob, Will, Samuel H and Samuel T who leave us to go off to school. We also sadly say good bye to Tayben and Flynn who are leaving us for a new life in Bristol.
We would like to welcome Hector to the Butterflies room.
This week Sadie from Butterflies will be celebrating her 4th birthday, Charlie from Bumblebees will be celebrating his 3rd Birthday and Lucas from Caterpillars will be celebrating his 1st Birthday. We would like you all to join us in wishing them a very Happy Birthday.
Snails
This week the snails will be concentrating on Sealife, we would like to encourage the children to make turtles in the sand, play with fish in the water tray, decorate seahorses and we will be reading shell books.
Day off: Sarah - Friday
Caterpillars
This week the caterpillars will be concentrating on Transport, they will be enjoying activities such as sponge painting boats, transport books, playing with diggers and trucks In the sand, trains and train track and making marks in corn flour with different size cars.
Day off: Abi –Thurs, Jamie – Fri
Ladybirds
This week the Ladybirds will be looking at Life Under The Sea; they will be joining in with activities such as making pictures of the sea using sand and tissue paper, reading sea life books, water play with fishes and other sea life creatures, singing songs such as “I Had a Little Turtle” and playing a sea life matching game as well as having a treasure hunt in the sand. The Ladybirds would like the children to bring in pictures of themselves at the seaside to make a seaside book.
 Day off:  Emma – Monday, Benita – Friday

Bumblebee’s
This week the Bumblebee’s will be concentrating on the Olympics, the children will be making Olympic rings, making flags for the countries competing in the Olympics with glue and tissue paper, having soft play, swimming in paddling pool, playing an Olympic matching game, using a balancing beam and doing an obstacle course in the garden.
The Bumblebees would like to remind all parents to bring appropriate clothing for the paddling pool.
Day off:  Sam – Monday    Krissi – Tuesday
Krissi is on annual leave Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Butterflies
This week the butterflies will be concentrating on the Olympics, the children will be talking about Olympic hero’s, past and present medal winners, tasting Olympic fruit – National fruit of the competing countries; making Olympic medals, joining in with team games, talking about the national animals of the Olympic countries and creating flags using different textures and materials.
The butterflies would like to ask all parents to check their child’s bag before taking it home as we have had a number of bags going home with the wrong child.
Day off:  Claire – Monday   Jo- Tuesday
Kim will be on annual leave from Friday 3rd of August for the remainder of the month to spend the summer with her children.

Dear parents and carers
Welcome to our weekly blog. We aim to send out an update of events, developments, news and activities throughout each month; this will replace our existing emailed weekly newsletter.
We would like to welcome Wendy Norris to our team; Wendy will be assisting Wendy Moseley in the kitchen.
It has come to the time of year when we say goodbye to some of our pre-school children; for those children leaving us for school and pastures new, we wish you all the best.
Snails
This week the snails will be concentrating on pets, we would like to encourage you to bring in photos of your pets at home please; they will be gluing and sticking pictures of animals and using animal puppets for story and song time.
Sarah is on annual leave all week and will be back on the 30th July
Caterpillars
This week the caterpillars will be concentrating on the Olympics; the children will be gluing and sticking medals using a variety of resources, painting on the Union Jack and decorating rich tea biscuits with the red, white and blue icing. On Friday 27th July they are having a dress up as an Olympian day so please come to nursery in sports clothes, or your countries colours.
Day off – Abi –Thurs, Jamie – Fri
Ladybirds
This week the Ladybirds will be concentrating on the Olympics; the children will be making torches, making medals and they are planning on making a boat with oars using sensory materials and complete a rowing game in the garden.  On Friday 27th July they are having a dress up as an Olympian day so please come to nursery in sports clothes, or your countries colours.

Bumblebee’s
This week the Bumblebee’s will be concentrating on the Olympics; the children will be using soft play, complete flag matching games, they are going to make cookies with flags on, exploring the different colours on flags. We would like to encourage you to bring in pictures/ flags from your home countries thank you. Also on Friday 27th July they are having a dress up as an Olympian day so please come to nursery in sports clothes, or your countries colours.
Day off – Sam – Mon Krissi – Thurs
Nikki is on annual leave all week
Butterflies
This week the butterflies will be concentrating on the Olympics; the children will be making and completing obstacle courses in the garden, having bike races, looking at different national flags and also making torches. On Friday 27th July they are having a dress up as an Olympian day so please come to nursery in sports clothes, or your countries colours.
Day off Jo- Tues
Claire is on annual leave all week and will be back on Tuesday 31st July

Our First Blog


Dear Parents / Carer’s
Welcome to our first Weekly blog, we aim to send out an update of events, developments news and activities throughout each month. This will replace the exsisting emailed weekly newsletter.
 I would like you to join me in saying a very well done to the staff that participated in the Guildford Raft Race on Saturday 7th July. The guys did an amazing job coming 8th out of 16 and completeing the race in 57 minutes. I would also like to thank those parents who came to show their support especially the Stennett family who kindly helped the guys to transport the raft to the river. Well done again to Lee, Jo and Claire from butterflies, Sam and Krissi from Bumblebees, Tash from Ladybirds and Sarah from Snails you did brilliantly.
As most of you should be aware the Olympic Tourch will be making its way through Guildford this Friday 20th July, we would like to remind parents to think about their journeys as there are a lot of roads being closed in the Guildford area in the late afternoon. Please make sure you leave in plenty of time to pick your child up as late charges will be in place.
I would like to remind all parents of our Teddy Bears picnic on Wednesday tea time. All children and parents are welcome, if you do not attend on Wednesdays please let your childs room know if you would like to join us. 
Snails
This week the babies will be concentrating on the Olympics, the children will be stacking rings on hoops, painting with hoops to create Olympic rings, water play with Happy Land People and making medals with sensory materials.
Sarah –  Day off Friday, Sarah will also be on annual leave for the week of 23rd July.

Caterpillars
The Caterpillars will be looking at Seaworld, the children will be enjoying activities such as colouring water snails pictures, painting seaweed and shells, exploring the water tray with boats and fish, looking at sea world books and heuristic play with sea shells and wet and dry sand. They will also be having a pirate day on Thursday so please come dressed as a pirate.
 Days off:  Abi -Monday, Jamie- Fri

Ladybirds
The Ladybirds will be looking at Farm Animals, the children will be making tractors out of box modelling, messy food play with flour water and paint to play with alongside farm animals, making cotton wool sheep, singing farm songs, farm storys and farm animal finger puppets.
Days off: Benita - Monday   Emma - Friday

 
Bumblebees
This week the children will concentrate their activities around Dinosaurs, they will enjoy treading Dinosaurs in sand to make footprints, Dinosaur books, Making Dinosaur biscuits, creating Dinosaur masks and learning the names of Dinosaurs
Days off : Sam Wednesday   Krissi - Thursday
Nikki is on Annual Leave Wednesday, Thurday and Friday

Pre – School
This week’s interest for the pre- school is Healthy Practices, they will being joining in activities such as talking about people who help us such as Doctors, Dentists and Opticians, tasting fruit, plant experimenting "why do we need to drink water", make and mold soap to wash their hands, role play bedrooms and bedtime and singing Miss Polly to explore what happens when we are poorly.We are also trying to invite a Doctor/Nurse into nursery to talk to the children about how they look after people when they are poorly so if any of are parents our Doctors/Nurses and would be happy to come in please see Jo in Preschool.
The Preschool Team would like to remind parents of school leavers that have received a development summary please can these be returned completed to a member of staff. If you have not received a copy, it is ready for collection. The Preschool plan to post all summaries to school on Wednesday 18th July.
Days off:  Jo -  Tues  Claire - Thursday
The Preschool staff will also be spending a day at our South Hill Nursery this week in their Preschool to share ideas.
Jo will be at South Hill on Monday, Claire on Wednesday and Lee on Friday.
