Castle Nursery Markenfield
Friday, 15th October 2015
Dear
Parents and Carers,
Please may we ask parents to
encourage the children to hold onto the blue rail whilst walking up and down
the stairs, we have noticed that the children have been holding onto the red
rail or the wall, this is to ensure the children’s safety. Thank you
Please can we ask that parents
picking up at 1 or 2pm to be on time as we are having an increasing amount of
children being picked up late which is putting us over ratios as we have
children that also come in at 1pm.
We have some exciting times ahead in
our babies and 18-24’s room with both Amy and Abi starting a project through
surrey county council called the Wonder years programme. This will entail us
looking at the provision in both rooms and bringing in lots of new ideas. This
starts with an Audit of both rooms which will take place on Wednesday 23rd
September.
You may have noticed a couple of new
faces at nursery in the last week; we have had 2 new starters, Ellie in our
Bumblebees room and Paula in our Butterflies room. We also have Emily joining
Caterpillars on 19th October.
As some of you may already be aware
Alisha is expecting her first baby and will leave for Maternity on 09th
November, she will be slightly reducing her hours here to 3 days per week from
next week.
Dates for your diary:

13th Birthday on Thursday 22nd October, we ask all
children to wear their PJ’s for the day and we will have a party tea.

children on a Christmas sleigh. If you would like to attend please see Michelle
for a time which would be suitable for you. Kids Klub will be here all day.
Please may we ask parents not to dress their children in blue or purple on the
day as this will interfere with the colour settings on the film.

will be holding a bonfire party between 6pm – 7pm. There will be sparklers and
a bonfire for all to enjoy. We will be providing food; if you have any dietary
requirements please see Michelle. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lost/missing
child policy
Aim of
policy
To give clear guidelines on what to
do should a child go missing or become lost.
Points to
consider
Castle Daycare and Preschool recognise the responsibility it has when caring for children throughout
the day. This includes children within
the Nursery setting and children who are taken out for visits into the
community.
We recognise there are a number of situations where a child could become
lost and these are:
·
Where a
child wanders off on an outing
·
Where a
child escapes from the outside area
·
Where a
child is taken from the Nursery by an unapproved adult
·
Where a
child is lost within the Nursery
Castle
Daycare and Preschool aim to do this by:
·
Alerting the member of staff in
charge immediately. They will make enquiries of the relevant members of staff
as to when the child was last seen and where.
·
Remember the safety of the other
children, with regard to supervision and security.
·
Ensure the remaining children are
sufficiently supervised and secure, one or preferably two members of staff
should then search the building/ outside area straight away.
·
If the child cannot be found within
five minutes then the police and parents must be informed. The operational team must also be informed at
this time.
·
Continue to search, opening up the
area, keep in touch by mobile phone.
·
When the situation has been resolved
members of staff should review the reasons for it happening, complete a risk
assessment and ensure measures are taken to ensure it does not happen again.
·
A full and detailed report must be
made to the Nursery Manager and a copy sent to the Operations Manager and
Ofsted.
