Dear Parents and Carers
On Friday June 14th we are holding a Father’s Day breakfast for all of the daddies on the back of the success of our Mother’s Day breakfast in March. Breakfast shall be served between 8am – 9am to enable dads to drop off their children and stay for a spot of breakfast with them. Please could you advise a staff member in your child’s room whether you are able to attend the event, in order that we can cater for the correct quantity of people. Thank you.
Snails
This week the babies shall be exploring musical instruments and sounds. The musical toys shall be available to them and also the metal and wooden treasure baskets giving the babies opportunities to create their own sounds.

Caterpillars
The Caterpillars shall be continuing with their theme of ‘Animals’ due to the interest shown by the children during last weeks activities. The s children shall have the opportunity to explore arctic animals using ice and the happy land figures, whilst messy play shall incorporate [painting using brown paint and flour to construct a model of a pig sty, which shall be included in the planned farmyard display.

Ladybirds
This week the children shall be exploring the theme of ‘Art’, where they will have the opportunity to use different parts of their bodies in the paint to make different patterns such as their hands, fingers and feet. Other art media shall also be explored such as crayons, coloured pens and pencils.

Bumblebees
To continue their theme of Animals, the children shall be discussing the correct terms used for habitats of animals that live on a farm and then, using the building blocks and small world toys, the children and staff shall construct a farm with pens for different types of farm creatures. The children shall take extra time when petting the nursery pet rabbits, smudge and biscuit, and discuss the correct way to look after them.
Song times shall consist of animals that you may find on a farm such as ‘Sleeping bunnies’ and ‘Old McDonald’ whilst out in the garden the children shall be encouraged to move like different farm animals.
Tash – Day off, Friday Krissi – Annual leave all week
The children’s current interest is ‘Music’. This is apparent through observing the spontaneous play of the children this week whereby they have built stages out of the building blocks, to perform on, using the musical instruments.
To support this the children shall discuss famous musicians from both popular and classical era’s.
The children will be able to beat out rhythms on different instruments and have the opportunity to make their own musical instruments.
The Pre school team would like to request donations of empty plastic bottles to make instruments form and also to bring in your child’s favourite CD from home which the children can listen to over the lunch time period.
