Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to those who attended our school information evening. We hope you found the evening informative and useful.
We are currently looking at holding a parent first aid course at the beginning of September. Please look out for letters requesting confirmation of interest in your child’s room. The approximate cost per parent will be £30.00 however this will be dependent on numbers. We must act on a first come, first served basis as the maximum number of parents we can have is 12. The course shall be held on a Saturday morning (date tbc) and will last two and a half hours.
Snails
The babies shall continue with their theme of outdoors this week, whereby the garden shall be used as an environment to explore wooden and metal treasure baskets. Weather permitting; the babies shall also have tea in the garden.
Puppets shall be used in the soft corner, created in the garden, where the children can listen to nursery rhymes.
Days off Jenni – Thursday
Caterpillars
Animals shall be the focus of interest this week as the children have shown extreme interest in all activities based around this since the farm came to visit us on May 15th. This week the children shall be singing songs about different animals, exploring the animal puppets and painting pictures of different animals. Animals moulds shall also be in the sand for the children to explore.
Jamie – Day off Friday
Ladybirds
The Ladybirds shall continue with the theme of ‘Art’ this week, exploring malleable materials. The children shall be making sand pictures and shall explore paint using a plethora of materials such as golf balls and string. The children will also have the opportunity to participate in clay modelling and using play dough.
Days off Julie – Friday Abi - Monday
Bumblebees
The children enjoyed the visit from the mobile farm so much that this shall be their focus of interest this week. The children shall have the opportunity to identify a picture of an animal by listening to animal sounds. The children shall make animal masks and then pretend to be those animals in the garden. The staff are organising to have an animal tea party on Friday May 31st. More details regarding this event shall be made available nearer the time.
Tash – Day off, Friday
This week the theme of transport shall continue as the children have remained fully engaged in this theme over the last week. The role play area shall be turned into a bus station ticket office and the children shall use the map of the London underground to create their own transport systems.
The team shall discuss different methods of transport used in different countries whilst the building blocks shall be used outside to build a garage that the children can use for the cars.
During the woodwork sessions the children will have the opportunity to make modes of transport out of wood.
Stani – Day off, Friday Jo – Training Monday and Day off Tuesday.
Please can I remind the school leavers that we have our photographer coming to take the graduation photographs on Tuesday June 4th at 9.45 am. If your child does not normally attend they are more than welcome to come and have their individual photo and be part of the leavers class of 2013. Please could you advise Michelle if you will be attending in order that children do not miss out on this opportunity. Thank you.
